(Ph.D. [Chem.], Chief Process Engineer) The process of styrene-butadiene diblock copolymer (SBDC) production in the presence of the initiating system based on n-butyllithium (initiator) – mixture of alkoxides of alkali and alkaline earth metals (modifier) was studied. The effect of the modifier on kinetics of the copolymerization process and the characteristics of copolymer produced was investigated. The influence of the concentration of styrene units in copolymer on the final characteristics of rubber was also studied. Optimum rate of the copolymerization process and the required level of micro- and macrostructure of copolymer is provided at a molar ratio of initiator to modifier 1:0,05. The results of commercial development of the technology of SBDC production were described. Dependences of long-term run of polymerizer, plant capacity, and block distribution of monomer units in copolymer on the apparatus design, temperature and other technological parameters of the continuous process of SBDC production were shown. (Ph. D. [Techn.], Gen. Director), Volkov A.M. (Ph. D. [Chem.], Chief Expert), Ryzhikova I.G. (Ph. D .[Techn.], Chief Expert), Bauman N.A. (Ph. D. [Techn.], Head of Lab.), Volfson S.I. (Prof., D. Sc. [Techn.], Chief of Ñhair) The possibilities of influence of dispersants (D) and conditions of the preparation of concentrate of talc in PP (Ct) on the efficiency of the EPDM phase dispergation in the PP matrix were revealed. D were introduced in preliminary prepared Ct. Known D were in use: amide, polyester and other waxes. Talc content in Ct and the base PP fluidity were also changed. The two-screw extruder LTE-20/44 (LabTech Ingineering Co.) for the preparing of Ct and PP/EPDM/talc compositions was used. Preparation of PP/EPDM/talc compositions was carry out in reaction extrusion condition. Certain specificity of the D action and a significant effect of the above mentioned conditions of Ct preparation on the fluidity, impact and strain-strength properties of the final compositions were showed. The results of the experiments can be explained by the different depth of the talc disagglomeration process, as well as by contribution of the process of the base PP mechanical degradation in the resulting concentrate. Influence of dispersion of products of processing of rice husk (PPRH) of Neosil brand (Neosil-120 and Neosil-150), which are used as fillers, on properties of elastomeric composites on the basis of SKS-30ARK rubber, was investigated. The results were compared with the data for silica Zeosil 1165MP. Fillers were introduced in the amount of 65 phr. Dependence of the real component of the complex dynamic shear modulus G’ from strain for rubber compounds was determined on the apparatus HAAKE RheoStress RS 150 at a frequency of 10 Hz and a temperature of 60 °C in the range of relative deformation of 0,001–0,3 mm. For measuring mechanical properties at the microscale, the measuring complex Nanotest 600 (Micromaterials) with spheroconical indenter of 10 µm diameter at maximum load of 5 mN was used. The analysis of changes in the parameters of PPRH structure was carried out by scanning electron microscope Joel JSM-6510LV. Mechanical tests of the vulcanizates were carried out by universal tensile testing machine UTS-10, according GOST-270-75. It was found that after grinding there is an increase of breaking elongation of elastomer composites with PPRH, tensile strength increases from 2 to 8 MPa, this effect is associated with a significant reduction in the average size of the particles. However, for composites with Zeosil 1165 MP, of higher dispersity the data is higher (12 MPa). As a result of PPRH grinding, the spread of microindentation indices decreases, due to the high homogeneity of the structure of the elastomer composite material. The difference of vulcanization characteristics for composites with Neosil-120 and Neosil-150 is noted. Measurements were conducted with the use of both industrial equipment and developed laboratory technique simulating this process (2450 ÌHz, 800 Wt). IR pyrometer of double laser detector was in use for temperature measurements. The laboratory method based on comparison of obtained data was developed. The prospect ways of creation of receipts of light-colored rubbers for processing on extrusion lines with microwave heating were determined. (MS Student), Potapov E.E.(Prof., D. Sc. [Chem.]), Iordanskii A.L. (Prof., D. Sc. [Chem.], Head of Lab.), Ivanov V.V.( Ph. D. [Chem.], Assist. Prof., Sen. Res.), Pyatov I.S. (Ph. D. [Techn.], Assist. Prof., Chairman of the Board of Directors) The kinetics of water swelling of standard packer rubbers based on BNR, and the influence of hydrophobizing organosilicon liquids (HPL) of various compositions on this process have been studied. HFL studied are: metyltrimetoxysilane (MTMOS), phenyltrimetoxysilane (PTMOS), octyltriethoxysilane (OTMEOS), phenylmetyldimetoxysilane (PMDMOS), phenyltriethoxysilane (PTEOS). There are two parts of kinetic curves. In absence of HPL swelling maximum of 1100 % is at 2 days, than it decrease to 600–700 % as a result of washout of water-absorbing agent. It was shown that preliminary swelling in the HPL’s with the phenyl groups significantly slows the water swelling in the initial stages of the process, the washout of the water-absorbing agent from the packer rubber is significantly reduced, and a high degree of swelling at the late stages of this process remains. Diffusion activity of HPL is in order PTMOS > PMDMOS > MTMOS > ÐÒÅÎS > OTEOS. Mechanism of these effects is under discussion. Thus, the use of hydrophobizing organosilicon liquids of various types makes it possible to program the process of water swelling of packer rubbers during their operation.
