Development and Study of the Hydro-Sorption Material Based on Blend TPV - Galikhanov M.F. (Prof. D. Sc. [Techn.]), Akhmedzyanova D.M. (Postgrad. Stud.), Nikitin N.R. (Eng.)

Hydro-sorption thermoplastic blend TPV of adjustable swelling rate was developed. Low density Polyethylene (PE), BNR and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose as water-soluble polymer (WSP) were blended on laboratory mills in two stage and vulcanized at 170 °Ñ. At the first stage BNR with vulcanizing system and carbon black was blended with WSP at 50 °Ñ, at the second stage this composition was blended with PE at 140 °Ñ. Hydro-sorption, mechanical and electret properties of obtained TPV were studied. Sorption tests under the conditions of limited and unlimited water access showed that compositions consisting of 25 % PE and of predominant WSP content swelled in water by ~28 %. There was no migration of the WSP from these compositions. Stress-strain behavior of these TPV was studied by Inspekt mini TR-3kN. Mechanical properties are not too high due to low adhesion between PE and polar BNR and between BNR and WSP; however their level is sufficient for sealing gaskets. Electret state of TPV obtained in negative corona discharge after heating to 90°Ñ and cooling. Gaskets were made from developed TPV and tested for sealing ability. Electret state of TPV directly after corona inhibited water-swelling due to negative effect of electric field on wetting, solution and diffusion rates. But electret state of the TPV goods relaxes fast while in operation, after that swelling occurred at usual rate. It allows conducting assembly operations during installing or replacing gaskets made of hydro-sorption TPV.

Influence of the Structural Organization of BNR on the Vulcanization Process - Sokolova L.V. (Assist. Prof., Ph. D. [Chem.]), Kichaev N.A. (Postgrad. Stud.)

Comparative analysis of the features of vulcanization process of BNR of 18 % (wt.) acrylonitrile units and their different distribution along the macromolecular chain is presented. Content of cis-1,4-, trans-1,4- and 1,2-units was determined by IR spectroscopy (Fourier spectrometer EQULNOX 55, company Bruker), absorption bands 730, 970 and 910 ñì-1. Dynamic viscosity at 85 and 130 îÑ, shear rates 1,13–42,23 ñ-1 and vulcanization kinetics were determined by RPA 2000, company «Alpha Technologies», mechanical properties – by AI 3000 company GOTECH. Sulfur, ZnO, stearic acid and accelerator were components of vulcanization system. Effect of stearic acid content was studied and three types of rubber specimen were found. The main effect on vulcanization process and mechanical properties of elastomers authors considered to be connected with the size of ordered elements of rubber structure, formed from alternating units.

Modification of Silica for Tire Rubbers - Krotova O.A. (Postgrad. Stud.), Kasperovich A.V. (Assist. Prof., Ph. D. [Techn.], Head of department), Shulyak I.V. (Assistant, Ph. D. [Chem.]), Shashok Zh.S. (Ph. D. [Techn.], Assist. Prof.), Potapov E.E. (Prof., D. Sc. [Chem.]), Reznichenko S.V. (Prof., D. Sc. [Techn.], Head of department)

Silica (SAF) modified by cobalt ions obtained, which can be used as a promoter of adhesion in elastomer compositions designed for rubber-coating of steel cord. Qualitative and quantitative composition of the modified SAF, as well as its structure are determined with methods of electron scanning microscopy with energy dispersive analysis (EM), Õ-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF), IR spectroscopy. The influence of concentration of ammonia, ions of cobalt in the solution, the time of settling of the mixture, the volume of flushing water on the number of cobalt ions at the surface of the modified SAF is investigated. The mechanism of the reaction of the SAF with cobalt ions throw formation of complexes is suggested. The complexes formed as a result of interaction of the surface silanol groups of the SAF with cobalt ions.

Prediction of Dynamic Characteristics of Damping Rubbers Based on Natural and Synthetic Rubbers - Myslivets M.N. (Eng.- Des.), Yurtsev L.N. (Prof., D. Sc. [Techn.]), Ghenevskaya E.E.(Deputy Chief of Lab.), Tolstov A.M. (Res.)

The main anti-vibration characteristics of rubbers based on NR and the blends of synthetic isoprene and butadiene rubbers was studied. Static and dynamic modulus, hysteresis loss, logarithmic decrement are determined by using the mechanic Yerzley oscillograph (Tavdi company) according to ASTM D-945. The change in these characteristics as well as the change of compression set was measured during thermal aging of rubber. Arrhenius equation was in use for calculation of results of thermal aging on ambient temperature. The main changes for static modulus are in the first three years and for dynamic – in five years. Their relation and the natural frequency are different for different rubbers and times of storage or service. So the resonance parameters are also different. The conclusion presented about the necessary of determining of all dynamic and static parameters for prediction of efficient service period in each case.

Evaluation of Mechanical Properties of Hyperelastic Composite Materials with Small Additions of Disperse Mineral Fillers. Part 1. Approximation of the Potential of Hyperelastic Matrix - Vlasov A.N. (D. Sc.[Techn.], Director), Volkov-Bogorodsky D.B. (Ph. D. [Phys.-Mat.], Sen. Res.), Karnet Yu.N.(Ph. D. [Phys.-Mat.], Sen. Res.), Gamlitsky Yu.A.(Assist. Prof., Ph. D. [Phys.-Mat.], Ch. Res.), Mudruk V.A. (Assist. Prof., Ph. D. [Phys.-Mat.])

The development of methodology for assessing the effective deformation properties of hyperelastic filled polymer composites (basically, they are technical vulcanized rubbers) is presented. The model takes into account the presence of interphase contact layers in the filled elastomer composites. Filled elastomer can be considered as three-component system. Components are: particles of filler (of different dimensions); interphase layers considered as the part of modified matrix; «pure» matrix. In the part 1 the whole problem is formulated Identification properties of hyperelastic matrix was carried out on the basis of a family of potentials, taking into account the nonlinear effects of changes in the tensile stiffness of the polymer material. The possibility to use the methodology for unfilled vulcanized SBR i.e. for «pure» matrix, is also shown. The calculated stress-strain curve coincided very closely with experimental one, if developed method to choose the coefficients of equations is in use.
